180 job losses due to the closure of a Dundalk-based factory


A UK company, was granted permission by the High Court on Friday to appoint joint provisional liquidators to Dundalk-based TAFC Manufacturing Ireland Ltd. This has lead to 180 job losses.

The company as set up in 2014 but has only ever had one profit making year. The parent company is no longer able to support the losses from the factory therefore the factory has to close. €3.2 million is owed to its UK sister and €4.6 million to the parent. “we just found out at 2 o clock today, they came in and said right, lines shut, finish up and go home the liquidators were coming in” stated one of the workers who had been working for the factory for 11 years.
