A man in his mid-60s has been arrested in relation to a shooting that occurred near Macroom.
The shooting occured around 11:30 Monday night in Raleigh. An investigation has been launched by Gardaí to see the shooting was caused by a row over the dumping of building waste in the farm. Mr Coakley, a separated father-of-one dumped a load of building rubble at the farm where he was confronted by the landowner and then shot at least once. He managed to escape and called his friend. Paramedics were called to the scene but Mr Coakley was pronounced dead. Following a postmortem this Thursday Gardaí will launch a murder inquiry.
