President Trump calls for death penalty in wake of mass shootings

US President Donald Trump called for the death penalty to be implemented “quickly” for those who commit hate crimes and mass murders.

The measures, he says, are aimed at putting an end to crimes of this nature, along with an end to white supremacy, but the President has still failed to so much as discuss the possibility of implementing stricter gun laws.

The calls for these measures come after 31 people died died in two mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio over the weekend.

Implementing the death penalty swiftly and “decisively” is certainly one way of attempting to curb gun violence, but whether or not it will be enough is yet to be seen.
