Some energy drinks contain up to 17 spoons of sugar and twice as much caffeine as an espresso, a recent study finds.

The study found that although the average level of sugar in energy drinks has fallen by approximately two spoons of sugar, there is still dangerous levels of sugar in the drinks.

Red Bull and Monster have not reduced their overall sugar content, however, Lucozade has.

Minister for Health, Simon Harris has urged parents to inform their children of the dangers of these drinks for their health.
