The decision on whether or not to allow another extension to Brexit has been deferred until next week according to an ambassador.
The talks within the EU come after Chancellor Sajid Javid revealed that the deadline to deliver Brexit by next Thursday “can’t be met”.
He added that the British government expects the EU to allow an extension of three months, but France has argued for a shorter delay.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that he will allow MPs more time to debate his Brexit deal, provided they agree to a December 12 election.
However, an early election would require a two-thirds majority in Parliament, which could be unlikely given that Labour have not revealed how it plans to vote.
