UK High Court judges have ruled that last month’s police ban on Extinction Rebellion protests was unlawful.

Metropolitan Police enforced the ban, which prevented two or more people from the group taking part in protests.

However, the court has ruled that police had no power to do this as the law does not cover “separate assemblies”.

Police could now face claims for false imprisonment from “potentially hundreds” of protesters according to the activist group.
